Workshop Methods
I use two primary methods in my workshops and retreats:
The Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA) method, founded by Pat Schneider, which is a time-tested way to encourage writers to be bold and experimental with their writing.
Journaling, which draws on the pioneering work of Kathleen Adams, founder of the Center for Journal Therapy and the Journal to the Self® method.
I have indicated which method is primary in each of the listings below (although sometimes I do like to mix and match!). For more information about each of these methods, click on the links above.

All workshops are offered on Zoom in the Eastern time zone unless stated otherwise.

Birch Tree Writing Circle
Thursday, June 5, 6:30 to 8 p.m. EDT
In person at the Birch Tree Bookstore, 11 W. Market St., Leesburg, VA
In this monthly circle we will write together in response to a variety of writing prompts designed to excavate your memories and fire up your imagination. You are free to write whatever you wish, and to decide whether to read your work aloud. This circle will use the Amherst Writers & Artists workshop method, so all feedback will celebrate what is strong and memorable in your writing; there is no critique of first draft work. For writers who wish to socialize, we will have a half hour at the end to celebrate successes, share resources, and get to know each other. Writers at any level of experience are welcome!

Cost: $20. To register, visit the Birch Tree Bookstore site here.

As in all Amherst Writers & Artists workshops, you are welcome to write whatever you like and share your writing if you wish. All feedback you receive will celebrate what is strong and memorable in your writing. Women writers at any level of experience are welcome!
